Description
Thermory, J. Pinto Leitão's exclusive brand, is a world leader in producing thermally modified wood for indoor and outdoor spaces.
What is thermally modified wood?
It´s a technologically advanced process that uses heat and water vapor, called thermo treatment.
The wood is subjected to gradual heating, which varies between 160ºC and 230ºC. This process changes the molecular structure of the wood, making it more resistant and stable, giving it properties similar to tropical species.
In the production process of thermo-modified wood, no chemical compounds are used, avoiding harmful effects on the environment.
Temperature and weather resistant: Thermory's solutions do not react to changes in temperature or humidity because of the treatment process it can resist fungi and other parasites.
Lighter and more stable: After thermal modification, the wood’s humidity content reduces, making it less likely to warp or bend.
Non-toxic, chemical-free, and eco-friendly: During the entire thermo-modification process only heat and water vapor are used.
Thermal behavior: Thermal conductivity of wood after treatment is reduced by about 20 to 25%. When used on facades, Thermory provides insulation. In the case of decks, it does not allow overheating, thus avoiding the feeling of "burnt" feet.
Resin-free: being removed from the wood during the process ensures no release even when subjected to high temperatures. Thermory is an excellent solution for saunas.
Sustainable: wood comes from certified and environmentally "friendly" forests.
